Project Bold

Project Bold/Living Safe & Strong is a violence prevention and personal-safety program for girls ages 10-14 that addresses the individual girl within the context of larger community and societal issues. Project Bold engages girls in awareness, discovery, reflection, and action on violence issues in their lives and increased knowledge of community resources. Trained facilitators present age-appropriate material and skill development in the form of interactive and engaging activities. The curriculum builds girls’ minds, bodies, and spirits to better understand violence (teasing/bullying, sexual harassment, dating violence, media violence, and larger culture- or race-based violence), to learn and practice self-defense techniques, to develop self-confidence and self-respect, and to develop skills and strategies to seek out and talk to caring adults about personal violence issues.
